The Press Up (or push up) is a great to tone up and strengthen the neck, upper body and abdominal muscles. Place the hands a little wider than shoulder width on the floor and place your feet shoulder width apart. Note that your elbows should never be placed higher than your elbows as this would compress nerve structures in the shoulder. Pull the belly button into the spine and keep the chin tucked and retracted. Slowly lower your body symmetrically towards the floor then press back up.
Read Full PostPull ups are completely different to the conventional Lat pulldown machine. The recruitment of muscles are different. It is a tough exercise and a big calorie burner. To be able to pull your own bodyweight up is a great show of physical strength and muscular co-ordination. It is a fantastic exercise for the big Latissimus Dorsi muscle which is the only muscle in the body to connect from the pelvis, spine and shoulders. As it crosses so many joints it is a great stabiliser of the upper and lower body.

The sit up if performed on the floor is a great exercise to tone the abs, strengthen the neck and create stability to the pelvis and spine. The abdominal musculature creates rotational movements to the torso and helps bend the spine forwards and decelerates the spine from bending backwards. The sit up or crunch must be performed by curling the spine forwards rather than maintaining a straight back.

I cannot imagine a diet without Fat, in fact it must be quite dull. Food should be a pleasurable experience but the more you cut out of your diet the less pleasurable it becomes. So why do so many of us have a problem with eating Fat? Good Fat doesn’t make you fat. It’s the bad fat that you find in cakes,biscuits and crisps that make you fat.
